I purchased this knife a couple of years ago for my son, who was about 9 at the time. The knife is a handsome little thing, but not for big hands. Quality is very good, and the price is a great bargain. I can’t understand the bias against Taiwan made goods. I have a number of KaBar U S A made knives, and the quality is better, but this is a good, solid, knife.KaBar does a good job at quality control on all their line. When I order one, I don’t have to wonder if the knife will meet my standards. If you own tools, Delta, etc., look at the label, Taiwan makes most of this stuff now. Has for twenty years. SOGS are made there, and they want WAY more $ If you have a little guy around the house, I think he would very much like this as his first ‘belt’ knife, mine did. Still does.

Ok, so I saw the first review for this product and I was like no way all KA-Bars are made in the USA right? Wrong! If you go to the KA-Bar website you will see ALL of the knives in the leather stacked handle hunter style knives are made in Taiwan and the sheaths are made in Mexico. Is this a bad thing? For some. For me I was mildly dissapointed. However what I was hoping for was a small bird and trout type fixed blade knife. This one falls a “lil” short. The handle is to small for a man’s hands. If you have meathooks this is not the knife for you. The handle comes down to about my third finger making it a “lil” hard to grip especially when cleaning fish or squirrel or whatever.

I must say also this knife has a very letter opener feel to it mostly because of the handle size. Also the fit of the sheath is not so good (perhaps with time).

Now the good. This knife is very sharp and handsome if you can ignore the Taiwan stamp on the blade. Also I was weary of buying this based on the above review but the nice people at Amazon assured me if I was not happy in anyway I could return this for a full refund! So why not! Long story short I am keeping the knife because I do really like it. The downfalls arent enough to make me not like it. Hope this helps!

Item not as described. Description says item stamped Olean, NY, like most Ka Bar knives. This one arrives and it’s made in Taiwan. Knife is much smaller than expected. I would not have purchased if I knew the knife was made in Taiwan.
