I figured the blade would’ve actually been metal like a dart. This whole piece is plastic. I doubt it will even get to where it needs to go when you throw it. It doubt it will penitrate either unless you use something like a crossbow. It’s not heavy enough. I would have prefered something like the torpedo – same kind of aspect as this but shaped like a torpedo and made from steel. Search for amazon+torpedo and it should come up. That is on my next order. I’ll write a response to that also when i get it.

My son wanted this as a self defense item, not exactly what we expected. It is plastic(soft)can’t be sharpened and easily nicked with slight pressure. At best it’s a unique letter opener.

  3. Wow, this is one dealdy shank. Just take off the metal ring at the end and it should go through a metal detector with no problems…just take off the metal ring at the end…very disposable too..The price doesn’t come with a neck sheath which is a pain cause the shipping on the sheath is just as much as it. Not totally necessary but cool.

I purchased the Dart and shealth because I am a runner and have been chased by dogs more than my fair share of times. I figured the plastic would be light and more comfortable to carry than similar metal darts/spikes and would give me an edge aganist any dogs should I ever get bit. The knive is very thin and even using the reverse grip it would easily slip out. I eventually wrapped the handle with paracord as if it were a walking stick and the grip got infinitely better. The plastic is pretty cheap but could probably hold up for one good stab. This is no replacment for a real knife but given the low price and the way I use it, it is just fine.
