My hubby loved this knife but he couldn’t use it as a pocket knife because it opens so easily and with force ! He was like a kid with his first knife, opening & closing it. VERY SHARP !

ok so i got it took it out of the box and first off wasn’t as sharp as it could have been but thats fixed very easy. very very sturdy knife i fell like i could cut down a pine tree with it. buy it. i would have payed 60 or 70 dollars for it instead of 40$

After having a bunch of different (and usually cheap) knives, I finally wanted a decent carry knife that I could trust. I have also been interested in the assisted opening knives for a while so the Gerber Fast interested me. I decided to head to the local Cabelas (had a $30 gift card) to look around a bit. The guy behind the knife desk immediately recommended the Fast. I liked the way it handled and bought the knife. $40 knife with a $30 gift card is a $10 knife. If my math is right that equals a pretty good deal.
The pros:
This knife is light for (what seems to me) a full size folder. In spite of this lightness, the pivot point feels solid when the blade is locked in place (a normal weak point), and the clip is fairly thick with two screws holding it in place. The assist system is quick and seems as though it is reliable.
The cons:
The blade was not as sharp as I would have hoped out of the box. This is not to say it is a butter knife. No, it will hurt you if you aren’t careful and it will perform very well at normal tasks. However, I like to see a razor edge on knives. Probably an over expectation for a $40 knife, but I have my hopes.
Also, the safety switch is a bit “stickier” than I expected. This is of course to make sure the silly thing doesn’t flick on and stab a hole in my buttocks. I just felt that it took a bit of playing to get use to the feel and this may turn off some people that want a lightning fast deploying backup weapon.
Overall:
This is an excellent knife for daily carry and I am not disappointed at all. I can always touch up the edge and the safety is not a problem after I got use to it.
I recommend this knife to anyone looking for a decent price knife.

I own about seven knives and this is most definitely one of my favorites.This knife is designed very well and built very well.The size and light weight make it perfect for carrying in pocket for everyday use.The spring assist whips the blade out very quickly.A safety switch on the handle prevents this knife from opening inadvertently and the blade needs to be pushed out a fair ways before the spring activates.This knife arrived at my door razor sharp and in perfect condition.If I were to change anything on this knife it would be the handle plates,they look kind of cheap and are not the most attractive.For the price this is a great knife and I highly recommend it.

Knife was a great gift, started to buy him an automatic but this one is legal in my state, good price and good quality, would have given 5 stars but not a automatic
