This blade is very fast, the grip is great, and the thumb studs are fantastic. My only criticism is that the blade isn’t all that sharp, but you can always sharpen it.

  2. I am very happy with this knife. The only complaint I have is that the pocket clip is a little too tight. I like a firm grip, but it makes taking the knife out and returning it a bit difficult during one hand operation. Also, it is wearing on my jeans already. Other than that, the knife is great. It is very intuitive and easy to easy. One hand operation requires little to no practice. It is my favorite knife so far; I would buy it again.

I’ll add one more mark to the scores of praise this knife has already recieved, it is absolutely outstanding in every way. The main applications for this blade for me are both heavy outdoors work (as a counselor at the summer camp I worked at you can expect your knife to be put well through its paces), EMS work as an EMT (never around patients of course!), and also some EDC stuff as well . In these applications Of particular note here is the extreme reliability of the blade, it is superbly designed around the fact that if you need to deploy it, it will present itself very willingly (with or without the assisted mechanism, I have used it both ways and it is great even with medical gloves on). I was not entirely sure about the recurve blade shape this knife has at the beginning, however I have to say that use I have become extremely enamored with it due to the extensive belly that lends itself beautifully to most cutting tasks (although I should mention that I HATE tantos for normal use by the way). I have one of the new models with the Sandvik steel, and in my experience this steel is much, much better than the AUS seriess steels and holds an edge very well given what I put it through. The ‘Trac-Tec’ inserts in the handle are extremely helpful regardless of whether they feel rough or uncomfortable to some in the hand or not to some they will not allow the knife to slip, which is of great importance for many applications for the knife. I remember needing to perform extensive tasks with this knife in the pouring rain and never doubting that the knife was to going to stay in my hand throughout them. I would note however that while it was initially very solid the lockup has decreased over the course of the 1.5 years I have used the knife, but likely only because I have not re-tightened the main pivot screw (once I get the driver to do that it will be as good as new). Also, regarding sharpening for those who purchase this knife I would strongly recommend purchasing a guided Lansky sharpening system with it, as the recurve blade shape can be very difficult to sharpen with a stone and I personally have had superb results with the Lansky.

Overall it is very difficult to find a better knife for the money here based on the applications I have described, absolutely magnificent in every way!

  4. After purchasing half a dozen knives from Amazon (and owning a few more from other sources) I can honestly say that this is far and away my favorite. Fast to deploy, sharp, nicely shaped blade, light. It’s definitely a good choice for your every day carry.

Great knife. Big enough to work with. A little heavier than I expected at about 5 oz so I wear it in a 4″ knife pouch on my belt. Blur is the correct term for the action. FAST with just a flick of the thumb. I like the black and I like the rough texture of the grip. Don’t carry this knife in the same pocket as your j frame or the j frame will be the worse for wear.
