Bought this knife and I though it was the coolest knife ever. For the price you can’t beat it right? Wrong! First of all the knife is MADE IN CHINA. Chinese products as you should know are garbage and to think we tried to sell good o’ American HUMMER to the Chinese.

Well start with the pros on this knife. It’s cheap (in a bad way I would say), it fits perfectly in your hand, it’s good looking, comes with a sheath, a sharpener and that’s about it.

Now for the cons let me begin by saying that I started using this knife as soon as I got it. I slid my finger on the edge and OUCH! It cut my finger, yes I’m stupid but that’s how I test all my knives. I kept using cutting ropes, tape, plastic, cans, you name it, I cut it. Literally two days after use the thing was dull as a butter knife. Oh well, I can just sharpen it right? Not! I tried to sharpen it with the cheapo sharpener (it doesn’t have to be expensive anyways) that it comes with and I had no success. OK, maybe I am stupid, NO NO NO, I AM STUPID, I CANT SHARPEN KNIVES. So instead I gave it to my friend who’s an avid knife user (yeah be careful with that guy) so I decided to give him a hatchet and my knife the night before we went to the mountains. The day after he walks up to me with a serious face and tells me that he couldn’t sharpen the knife. WHAT?! Maybe he doesn’t how to sharpen knives, but wait a minute: The hatchet was as sharp a it could get! Screw this knife!

I took it up to the mountains as dull as it was and it was rather useless. At one point I tried to open a box of burger patties and couldn’t, yeah this thing wouldn’t cut through tape. TAPE! What knife calls itself a knife if it doesn’t go through tape! That’s when I gave up on it. Sure you can blame it on me. Maybe I messed up the blade when I tried to sharpen it, but keep in mind this is not the first time I sharpen a knife.

When I got home I was very upset and so I started using my knife as a throwing knife with the objective of trying to stick it into a piece of wood. Two times after I throw it the thing goes ‘BLING’ and the knife broke in half. Sure, I’m not supposed to be throwing my knife like that, but seriously? Two times after I threw it, it just broke like it was made of plastic.

I am tired of American companies allowing the Chinese to manufacture their products. Why Smith & Wesson would allow this is beyond me. If their handguns and rifles are made in China then I’m never buying one. Sure I am guilty of buying Chinese products, but those are products that are suppose to be cheap, such as pens or blank CD’s, but not something I would depend my life on. This is a survival knife after all, it needs to be of the best quality possible, not some bread and butter knife. If you go up to the mountains and you get lost, your skills and life depend on a knife like this one.

This is not the first time I own a S&W knife and it’s not the first time they disappointed me. Needless to say I won’t ever buy another S&W knife, they’re cheaply made and they’re garbage.

I would only recommend this knife if you like to collect knives. After all it is a good looking knife, but beyond that I cannot recommend ANY Smith & Wesson knife to anyone.
