This is a very sharp and well made pocket knife. The odd shape of the blade actually make it easier to open packages, and cut through anything. The blade is strong and sharp so be careful…

  2. I purchased this knife along with the pro grip in 2004. I’ve had my spyderco in my pocket ever since I purchased it. Its a great and very useful knife that I have found many uses for. I don’t carry a wallet, so the clip, which holds up and is durable works great as a money clip. I’ve also used it as a potential self defense weapon while in rough areas of town and daily as a letter opener. Just recently I used it to open over 50 boxes without any effort.

It also easily conceals in your hand and it can easily be opened with a flick of your thumb. I purchased the spider web design, which doesn’t have one scratch or any signs of rust. The locking mechanism is sturdy and never weakens.

I would like to know more of the blade and where it was made. My pro grip says it was made in Japan.

The only gripe is that the tip will dull quickly and its a bit difficult to sharpen due to the shape, but the blade sharpens quickly due to the softness of the blade. The blade overall cuts better than my pro grip and it conceals much easier than any other knife. Its a great quality and useful knife.

I carry this knife every day (unless I’m flying). It’s a very small knife, but perfect for most all around cutting, and piercing tasks. I prefer the plain edge rather than the serrated one because it cuts very cleanly, and I always prefer cutting to sawing. The curved tip is just great for cutting thin items like tape and cardboard, but it’s a very strong and capable knife. It sharpens up very easily if you have a set of Spyderco triangular sharpening stones.

Sure you can get cheaper knives, but for a constant companion, it can’t be beat. I also groove on the oval shape (when folded) and the design in general. The lock mechanism is an integral part of the handle which is ingenious.

  4. This knife is a great all day carry knife. The clip holds it to my pocket perfectly. The design is solid, the knife could not be sturdier. It’s a great tool to have in case you need to slice the tag off of something, or slice open packaging, or as a security guard it is nice to have as a backup in case things get close. This knife is only about 4 inches long opened, and the blade is very small, only about 1.5 inches. The way it just fits into your hand however is perfect. I highly recommend Spider Co for their craftsmanship in making knives.

for an all round elegant “office knife” I dont think you can beat this. My only gripes are 1) I really expected to arrive sharper and will attempt to sharpen it myself and 2) the way the clip points, you have to rotate the knife 180 degrees after you pull it out of your pocket in order to open it one handed. No biggy, but I would have designed the clip direction differently. It indeed can pass as a bill fold or just clip it in your breast pocket. Looks very smart.

As the 4 stars suggest, Im happy and would purchase again if I lost it.
